Useful web tools

Wordtracker
If you're writing copy for your site you'll need to include a good density of the key words and phrases that you think people will type in to the search engine when they want to find a company like yours. Use this tool to evaluate the popularity of particular keywords.

Remember to focus on different keywords for different subject pages and be as specific as you can. For instance, if you sell used Saab cars and you're based in Leeds, don't just use "cars" as a keyword. It's so generic that you'll be fighting against millions of other site for recognition. Use phrases like "Saab cars Leeds", "used Saab cars", Saab deals" etc, to be more specific. But bear in mind that most of this keyword density will be of most use in the page text so you'll need to include these key words and phrases prominently in the copy whilst making sure it remains comfortably readable!

Overture search word suggestion tool
An alternative to Wordtracker.

Key word density checker
Once you know what keywords you want to focus on, you'll need to ensure a good density in each page to increase your chance of a good search engine ranking. If you're writing your own copy use this tool to get density measurements. As a rule of thumb, make sure you have at least 4-5% density for the key words and phrases that are important to to you.
